24/7 Prayer
24/7 Prayer is an initiative of Servants Friends International joining all our communities, fellowship and prayer groups throughout the world into one continuous prayer watch.
This prayer , 24/7, began under the inspiration of the Moravians, who initiated a 100-year prayer meeting in the 18th century. "The prayers of humble believers change the course of history. A band of passionate worshippers discovered this truth in 18th-century rural Germany (the Moravians), launching a 100-year prayer meeting that birthed the modern missionary movement... the Lamb is now gathering His church for one final prayer-saturated harvest for souls." We launched this prayer initiative, 24/7, on January 20th, and it has continued ever since, involving Servants of Jesus Australia, Good Shepherd Fellowship Australia, Families for Christ Community Malta, and Catholic Charismatic Renewal Uganda, along with Emmaus Community Uganda.
The intentions are to:
1. Worship the Lord above all.
2.Encourage evangelism and growth within our respective communities and fellowships.
3. Provide protection for all members and their families.
4. "The harvest is great, but the laborers are few; therefore pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into His harvest." (Matt 9:37-38) That God would supply the necessary finances and resources to grow our communities, fellowships, and prayer groups.
The structure resembles "the days of old," where we pray during our chosen time slot and then pass it on to the next person on the list. The importance of this prayer lies in fostering connection and communication. To facilitate this, a 24/7 WhatsApp group was created so that messages can be shared with everyone in the group. This has greatly helped build relationships and encourage each prayer participant, reminding them they are part of something larger, as well as providing affirmation when their words resonate with others.
Currently, we have approximately 120 hours of prayer being covered throughout the week. The feedback we’ve received from all countries indicates that it is yielding fruit many ways.
